The Construction of the Port Macquarie Fire Station was unique in that it combined the regional zone office with that of the permanent and retained fire fighters. This exclusive combination required particular expertise in the power reticulation system, public address, communications, coax TV and the latest in security services. The building is fully air conditioned, and is also serviced by modern hydraulic components and fixtures.

The building comprises of general office spaces, female and male toilet facilities, kitchen and sleeping facilities, training rooms, engine bays, parking facilities, workshops and workstations.

The build incorporated a two level construct made up of slab on ground and a suspended concrete slab, reinforced concrete block, steel portal frame to the engine bay and timber frame and truss to the building.

Externally the buildings’ roof was metal sheet and the wall cladding was a combination of metal clad and cement fibre sheeting.

Internally the building was lined with cutting edge plaster product to achieve optimal acoustic and fire properties; the flooring was a combination of vinyl, carpet and epoxy.

This building is capable of providing storage for Fire and Rescue vehicles and all the associated equipment.
